The International Security Council will hold an extraordinary meeting at the invitation of Tegeran, the council's press service reported. The reason for convening the meeting has not yet been disclosed.
The representative of the Iranian government turned to the council with a request to hold a meeting in connection with the situation that, in his opinion, requires international community intervention.
"We believe that there is an urgent need to discuss specific issues related to peace and security at the international level," the Iranian representative explained.
It is expected that at the meeting, questions regarding the political situation in the region, as well as possible ways to resolve conflicts, will be raised.
