Iran shot down a U.S. fighter jet in its territory for the first time since the war in the Middle East began, U.S. officials reported. Israel launched attacks against Iran on February 28 after Tehran's escalation against neighboring countries. The other three incidents occurred in a friendly fire incident in Kuwait at the start of hostilities, but the crew members were rescued. The shootdown in Iranian territory marks a new step in the "Fury Epic" operation, as Donald Trump's administration named the joint operation against Tehran, after the president promised to attack it "harshly" in the next two or three days two days ago. A rescue mission is already underway to try to save the two crew members on board. The Pentagon did not immediately respond to EFE's request for comment. This would be the fourth F-15 shot down since the U.S. began the war. Trump delivered a national address on Wednesday in which, far from declaring the end of the war, he did not specify details of how the supposed final weeks of the conflict will be carried out, nor the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
