Iran Threatens Enemy Ships in the Persian Gulf

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked a US-owned oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. Tehran had previously declared all US and Israeli assets in the region as legitimate targets. This follows massive US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.

Iran Threatens Enemy Ships in the Persian Gulf

A military spokesperson for Iran stated that 'enemy ships' entering the Gulf will 'end up at the bottom' of the sea. In a statement published in its official outlet Sepah News, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) indicated that it attacked a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker for being a US asset in the middle of the Gulf. The IRGC identified the tanker as 'Louise P' and claimed it was attacked with a drone around noon on Saturday, the statement added. It was also noted that the IRGC had previously announced that all Israeli and American assets in the West Asian region would be considered legitimate targets for Iranian armed forces. Earlier on Saturday, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported that the IRGC attacked an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday morning. According to a report published by Xinhua, the 'offending' oil tanker, sailing under the commercial name 'Prima', was attacked with a drone after it ignored repeated warnings from the IRGC Navy about the prohibition on movement through the Strait of Hormuz for security reasons. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched massive attacks on Iran, which claimed the life of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, several high-level military commanders, and hundreds of civilians. Iran responded with a series of missile and drone attacks against US and Israeli assets throughout the region.
