Iran condemned the recent strikes carried out by the USA on Saturday. During several hours, US President Joe Biden approved military operations at the borders of Iraq and Syria against militants suspected of attacks on American military bases and personnel in Iraq.
Iran expressed its concern regarding these military actions, stating that they lead to a deterioration of security and stability in the region. Iran also accused the USA of violating the sovereignty of Syria.
"We condemn such aggressive acts and express our deep regret regarding such actions," said an official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
As stated by a representative of the US Central Command, the strikes were carried out in response to attacks by forces linked to Iran on American military objects. "These attacks are aimed at protecting coalition forces in Iraq," he added.
Iran believes that such actions could lead to further deterioration of the situation in the region and accused the USA of violating international law. "We believe it is important to respect the sovereignty of countries and not interfere in internal affairs," commented the representative of the Iranian side.
