Khamenei Warns Against Negotiating with the United States

The maximum leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared on Friday that the government should not engage in negotiations with the United States, warning that it would be "unreasonable". In connection with the assassination of a high-ranking Iranian official, the government may be inclined to begin negotiations, but the Supreme Leader called for caution.

"There is no need to even think about negotiations with the USA," he said, suggesting that not only should they refuse talks, but also assert their strength. Acknowledging that the assassination is beyond the bounds of legality, he also recognized the rationale for the perpetrators of this crime.

"We have no and will not have any imposed negotiations," Khamenei stated, adding that "negotiations will never have a political meaning." "The USA is trying to undermine the Islamic community, but this plan will not succeed," Ali Khamenei said. "The best wish for the USA is to cease its aggressive actions and interference; otherwise, their politics will fail," he added.
