Iranian authorities are considering the gradual restoration of internet services, after communications were widely blocked across the country for more than a week, according to local media. International calls became available on Tuesday, and the text messaging service was resumed on Saturday morning. This unprecedented communications blackout was imposed amid growing calls for demonstrations. Citing an 'informed source', the news agency Tasnim reported that local messaging apps 'will be activated soon' on Iran's national intranet. It also noted that 'competent authorities have also announced the gradual restoration of internet services', without providing further details.
