The Iranian ambassador to the UN called the blockade a «serious violation of sovereignty» and «piracy». US President Donald Trump, in turn, warned that his forces would destroy any Iranian «fast attack craft» attempting to breach the blockade. Despite the escalation, Trump stated that Iranian leaders «very much want to reach a deal» with Washington. Following the failure of over 20 hours of talks in Islamabad, fears of renewed attacks have resurfaced. Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance stated that the ball is now in Tehran's court. Iran, for its part, claimed it was «a few steps away from a deal».
