The call comes in a context of high international tension, marked by military threats from the United States and the firm response from the Iranian government, which has raised alarms about possible attacks on strategic infrastructure. Embassy recommendations The Embassy of Mexico urged its nationals to remain calm and reinforce personal security measures. Military pressure and public warnings have heightened tensions in the Middle East. Among the main indications, it is recommended to stay in the safest areas of the home, away from windows and exterior walls, as well as to prepare an emergency kit with water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, medications, and first aid supplies. The diplomatic representation also emphasized the importance of avoiding the dissemination of images or videos related to military activities or damage derived from the conflict. The population was also asked to stay away from strategic points such as military installations, energy centers, or barracks, as well as to consult only official sources to avoid the spread of rumors. Trump's threats and Iran's response The recommendations come after the ultimatum from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who warned of possible attacks if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. In a recent message, he stated: “An entire civilization will die tonight… I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.” In response, the Iranian government, through its ambassador to the UN, described these statements as “deeply irresponsible” and “alarming,” warning that they increase the risk of a major confrontation. According to the notice, this practice is strictly prohibited and may result in sanctions such as fines, detention, or even deportation.
