Iran warned U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday that his “reckless” actions are dragging the United States into a “living hell,” in reference to the Republican's threat to attack power plants and bridges in the country starting Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened.
“Your reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living hell for every family, and our entire region will burn because you insist on following the orders of (Israeli Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu,” said Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, in X.
Qalibaf was blunt in telling Trump that he will get nothing “through war crimes” and emphasized that “the only real solution is to respect the rights of the Iranian people and end this dangerous game.”
His warnings came hours after Trump once again threatened to unleash “hell” on Iran if his demands are not met by Tuesday, when the ultimatum set by Washington for the unblocking of the strategic Strait of Hormuz expires.
“Open the fucking strait, you damn crazy people, or you will live in hell. YOU’LL SEE!,” the head of state wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, while threatening the promised attacks on Iranian infrastructure if no agreement is reached by then.
The head of state recently extended the deadline to 8:00 p.m. Washington time on Saturday (12:00 a.m. GMT on Sunday, April 7) for Iran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
The closure of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's oil passes, has been one of the most destabilizing consequences of the war in the Middle East, which began on February 28 after U.S. and Israeli airstrikes against Iran.
