Death of Iranian Navy Commander Confirmed

The Iranian government confirmed on Monday the death of Alireza Tangsiri, the influential commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. For Israeli intelligence, the commander was directly responsible for operations to block strategic trade routes. Under Tangsiri's command, who took office in 2018, the IRGC Navy strengthened its presence in the Persian Gulf. The news comes days after Israel claimed responsibility for his elimination during a military operation against the Iranian naval command. According to the Argentine News Agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced through its official channels that the high command "succumbed to severe wounds". Tangsiri was one of the most visible figures in the ideological Persian army and a veteran of the war against Iraq in the 80s. The official confirmation validates the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who on March 26 announced that his forces had neutralized the military chief.
