Iran stated on Monday that its armed forces are determined to 'defend itself for as long as necessary' in the current war, until the U.S. and Israel stop imposing it. The diplomat emphasized that the current war was 'imposed' on Iran while the government was 'seriously' negotiating a peaceful resolution to its nuclear program. 'The aggressor, according to reason, logic, and international law, must be held accountable. We must ensure that this war, or these intermittent wars, are not periodically imposed again on our region and our country,' he clarified. Iran does not tolerate that 'two evil regimes' (referring to the U.S. and Israel) attack when they want and declare a ceasefire when it suits them to resume aggressions shortly after. 'Our armed forces and our people are determined to defend themselves for as long as necessary, until the enemy understands that it cannot start a war against Iran whenever it wants and stop it whenever it pleases,' warned the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, at a press conference. He also recalled the attacks last June by the U.S. and Israel, which for twelve days targeted nuclear facilities, among others, and resulted in the killing of several Iranian military and security figures. Israel announced on Monday that its fighter jets have begun a new wave of attacks 'on a large scale' in the Iranian cities of Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz.
