Despite the importance of the appointment, the regime opted for secrecy and did not reveal the identity of the chosen one. While the name remains under seven locks, the strongest versions point to Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late leader, possibly being the successor, thus maintaining the family line of command. The appointment occurs in a climate of extreme hostility, marked by the recent bombing of enemy aircraft against five oil facilities in the Iranian capital and Alborz province. In this regard, Mohsen Heydari, representative of Khuzestan province, shared that "the most suitable candidate, approved by the majority of the Assembly of Experts, has already been designated." In the same vein, cleric Mohamad Mehdi Mirbagheri confirmed through a video released by the Fars agency that "a firm opinion was adopted, reflecting the majority position."
