Iran's television reported that Iranian bank cards can now be used in Russia. This became possible after the connection of the banking systems of the two countries in an attempt to counteract Western sanctions.
According to the head of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, this agreement was the result of months of negotiations with Russia. He also noted that this step is part of the strategy of both countries to strengthen trade and economic ties.
"This news comes almost a year after Iran and Russia signed an agreement on banking operations in national currencies, bypassing the US dollar and euro," added Hemmati.
*** "This step will help improve conditions for commercial operations between Iranian and Russian companies, especially under existing problems of currency exchange between the countries," noted the head of the Iranian Association of Forest Product Manufacturers, Alexander Larichev.
