WHO evacuates Tehran hospital after explosions

Geneva - Reuters. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Monday the evacuation of a hospital in the Iranian capital Tehran after explosions occurred in a nearby area. The organization stated it is verifying reports that three other medical centers in the country have come under fire since the start of the US-Israeli aerial war against Iran on February 28. A WHO spokesperson added that the organization is verifying reports of damage. Witnesses interviewed by Reuters on March 1 said the hospital was hit by Israeli airstrikes. "What we have been informed of is that patients were evacuated due to explosions in nearby sites that caused damage to the hospital," the WHO spokesperson said, referring to Gandhi Hospital in Tehran.
