Buenos Aires, March 9 (NA) -- The Russian Consulate General in the Iranian city of Isfahan was damaged as a result of an attack on a nearby governor's office, reported the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova. Russia considers attacks on diplomatic and consular missions a flagrant violation of the fundamental norms of international law, Zakharova stated in a statement published on social networks. "We demand that all parties strictly respect the inviolability of diplomatic facilities and refrain from any attacks on the security, life, and health of their personnel," she added. Zakharova also urged the parties in conflict to immediately end the military confrontation and return to the negotiating table, according to a Xinhua report citing the Argentine News Agency. Consulate near the governor's office In the statement, Zakharova explained that the incident occurred on March 8 in an attack on the office of the governor of Isfahan province, located near the Russian consulate. The explosion shattered the windows of the office building and the consulate's apartments, and several staff members were thrown back by the blast wave, she added. "Fortunately, there were no casualties or serious injuries," the spokeswoman emphasized.
