Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom has evacuated an additional 198 employees from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran on Saturday. Rosatom began evacuating its staff from the plant following the outbreak of the war with Iran at the end of February. The evacuation operation carried out on Saturday was planned prior to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) posting on X that day that one member of the plant's 'physical protection' team was killed by shrapnel and a building at the site was damaged by shockwaves and debris. Russian news agencies quoted Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, as saying that 'developments near the plant are unfolding according to the worst-case scenarios.' Likhachev stated that 'the employee who was killed was Iranian.' According to the TASS agency, Likhachev said that 'Rosatom has informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation in the vicinity of the plant'.
