Iran Confirms Readiness for Prisoner Exchange with France

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed on Wednesday that the exchange of French nationals Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris for Iranian Mahdia Espandiar will take place after the completion of legal and judicial procedures. The Iranian minister is currently visiting France, where he will meet with his counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot. Araghchi added: "I hope, and I believe, that within the next two months this will be finalized and the exchange will take place." In an interview with France 24, Araghchi said: "This exchange was negotiated between us and France. An agreement has been reached, and we are now awaiting the completion of legal and judicial procedures in both countries." Mahdia Espandiar was arrested in February on charges of "promoting terrorism", after which she was released on bail.
