Explosions in Iran: Five Dead, Authorities Reject Attack Theory

At least five people died this Saturday following two explosions in different cities in southern Iran, in an environment of extreme international sensitivity where local authorities quickly ruled out any hypothesis of a foreign attack. While rescue teams work among the rubble to find possible survivors, the Tehran government attributed the disasters to domestic failures and categorically denied versions linking the events to a military offensive against its bases. The explosion, which shattered the windows of the entire complex, adds to reports of similar incidents in other locations such as Ahvaz, near the border with Iraq. According to Noticias Argentinas, the first incident occurred in a house in the city of Ahvaz, where a gas explosion killed four people. Shortly after, in the strategic port city of Bandar Abbas, facing the Persian Gulf, an explosion in an eight-story residential building caused one death and 14 injuries. Mehrdad Hasanzadeh, Director of Crisis Management of the Hormozgan Governorate, detailed that the explosion seriously affected the structure and that the cause is 'under investigation'. The events occur in a context of escalation with the United States, following warnings from President Donald Trump about possible attacks if the nuclear agreement is not renegotiated. In this framework of hostilities and with a significant US fleet deployed near its waters, Iran maintains a state of maximum alert, having previously threatened to bomb bases and aircraft carriers in case of a direct aggression. For now, state television limited itself to showing images of the destruction in civilian buildings while debris removal continues in the affected areas. Faced with the proliferation of conflicting reports, the official urged the public to 'not pay attention to rumors' circulating on social networks. One of the explosions was registered in a building in Bandar Abbas, on the coast of the Persian Gulf. The Tasnim agency, linked to the Revolutionary Guard, called the reports on the assassination of Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri 'completely false' and assured that such news is part of 'an anti-Iranian psychological operation'. In turn, the Revolutionary Guard Navy denied drone attacks in Hormozgan province, stating that 'no building affiliated with the force has suffered damage' during the day.
