Israel and the United States attacked on Friday in central Iran the heavy water complex of Jondab and the yellow cake (uranium concentrate) of Ardakan, two key substances for the development of fuel in the nuclear process, with no deaths or radioactive leak, according to Iranian authorities. "The Jondab plant (heavy water research reactor) was attacked by Zionist and American enemies", denounced the provincial vice-governor for political, security and social affairs of Markazi province (central), Hasan Qamari, as reported by IRNA agency. The provincial official assured that "there has been no radioactive leak and that the population should not worry at all". Qamari considered that these attacks reflect "the desperation" of the adversaries before the scientific and industrial advances of the Islamic Republic and assured that they will not affect the development of Iran's nuclear and industrial activities. Almost at the same time, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced that the United States and Israel have attacked its yellow cake (concentrated uranium oxide) facility in the central city of Ardakan, where there has been no release of radioactive materials outside the complex. This Ardakan plant is a key facility where uranium ore is transformed into yellow cake or uranium concentrate, an intermediate step before uranium enrichment. It is not the first time that Israeli-American attacks have reached Iranian nuclear centers in the 28 days of war. The Natanz nuclear plant has already been hit twice during this conflict, to which Iran has responded with the launch of missiles and drones against the Israeli city of Dimona, very close to nuclear facilities.
